(NYTimes) “So many designers are looking back to the
past,” says Carrie Sawchuk, owner of My
Inheritance, “but we have the originals.”
The Upper Montclair boutique is packed with
vintage treasures: furs in all colors,
lengths and styles, from stoles to
Bakelite-buttoned short jackets to dramatic
mink, wool swing
coats with three-quarter sleeves and fur
trim. Sawchuk’s vintage bag collection
includes coveted snakeskin and alligator; her
trove of jewelry features the grand
geometric shapes, now being copied by today’s
designers. Nothing’s more now than an Art
Deco cuff,
she notes.
And ‘tis the season for hats. “I half-expect
to have women asking me for fedoras,” Sawchuk
muses. |
