My Inheritance My passion for collecting began at a very
early age scouring the NY City flea markets
with my mom. My mother, a master at
selecting the most beautiful pieces wherever
she went, ran a highly successful vintage
jewelry business in NY for 40 years. It is
from her that I truly learned the aesthetics
of fine design. I didn’t realize it then but
my love for vintage jewelry and clothing
would eventually become my lifelong
obsession.
Having owned a designer clothing store for
20 years I was ready for a change. Looking
toward the future I knew my mother was
eventually going to retire. She suggested I
follow in her footsteps and open a vintage store. The business climate was
right but I knew I needed a niche. I was up
for the challenge and in 2005 opened My
Inheritance in Upper Montclair, NJ. The dress pictured here was worn by my
mother in 1956. It is easily overlooked that
what is now called vintage was once brand
new. Vintage jewelry and clothing is a fashion
trend for the new millennium. At My
Inheritance we’ve incorporated an atmosphere
where you can have fun exploring your own
sense of style and individuality.
